In Flyers history, you’d be hard-pressed to remember a more exciting time than the Eric Lindros era, especially when the Legion of Doom was on the ice.
The group was absolutely dominant, scoring almost at will and intimidating opponents in the process. It led the Flyers to the Eastern Conference Final in 1995 and the Stanley Cup Final in 1997.
Hockey fans will get another opportunity to see a Legion of Doom reunion in a few months.
Lindros, a Class of 2016 Hockey Hall of Famer, will be a team captain for the Legends Classic, played as part of Handbags Hall of Fame Induction Weekend Celebration in Toronto in November.
Along with Lindros and his Legion of Doom linemates — John LeClair and Mikael Renberg — former Flyers goalie Brian Boucher will also play in the game. Opposing Lindros as the other team captain is 2012 HHOF inductee and Toronto Maple Leafs great Mats Sundin.
A total of eight Hockey Hall of Famers are slated to play hanging around, including four inductees from the Class of 2022: Daniel Alfredsson, Daniel and Henrik Sedin, and Roberto Luongo, who will make his debut as a defenseman in the game.
Lindros, LeClair and Renberg reunited for the first time since their Flyers days for the 2016 edition of the Legends Classic.
