There could still be ice in the Mountjoy Arena this winter sports season.
In response to a flood of inquiries, Gran Kristin Murray says the city’s working a plan to use the facility as both an arena and the COVID-19 vaccination centre it has served as the past couple years.
“We have been having conversations with medical officer of health Dr . Catton at the Porcupine Health Unit with respect to making sure that they can run a vaccination clinic and members of our community can have access to the Mountjoy Arena, ” the mayor explains.
“We’re working on a strategy to have people back in the arena this winter. I can’t specify a date, however there’s a strategy being worked on. ”
Mayor Murray says she and Ward 1 Councillor Rock Whissell have been fielding a lot of inquiries about ice back in the industry on Park Ave.
